Senior RF Engineer - Design & Optimization

 

Newfield Wireless, Inc. is a leading provider of RF engineering services and network visualization software tools to wireless network operators globally. We are looking for experienced, intelligent Sr. RF design/optimization engineers who have expertise in radio frequency technologies (CDMA, UMTS, WiMAX or LTE), experience in cellular network design and optimization, and who have excellent customer service skills. The right candidate will be motivated, productive self-starter who will interface with Newfield customers, software engineers, RF engineers and partners. Newfield provides a dynamic and challenging opportunity to work on the cutting edge of wireless engineering projects. This position is based in Berkeley, CA at Newfield Wireless headquarters.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

Work with our network operator clients on a wide variety of projects, from network design and optimization, to RF propagation model tuning, as well as supporting our software product development and support efforts. 

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • BSEE in Electrical Engineering or related technical field
  • Expert-level user of Asset, Atoll and/or PlanetEV
  • 3 years cellular system design and/or optimization experience
  • Proficiency in at least one cellular system air interface (GSM/UMTS, CDMA/EVDO, WiMAX, LTE)
  • System design/engineering, link budget analysis
  • Experience with experiment design, error budgets, data collection and statistical analysis
  • Quick learner, self motivated, with strong attention to detail and outstanding written and verbal communication skills 

 

Desirable Skills/Experience: 

  • Formal training in RF planning tools such as Asset, Atoll, PlanetEV
  • In-depth understanding of radio frequency propagation and test equipment
  • Management, teaching, mentoring, and/or advisory experience
  • Experience working with RF planning software design engineers
  • Proficiency with data analysis, plotting, presentation software
